TV Appearances

Bryan Adams performing “18 till I Die” on The Conan O’Brien Show in September 1996.

Tommy Mandel on keys, Dave Taylor on bass, Keith Scott on guitar, Mickey Curry on drums, and lucky me (Larry Russell) on percussion..

As the story goes:  Tommy called me that day to see if I could do the show and possibly the next day at Rosie’s show.

I arrived at NBC TV Studio within 2 hours, never hearing the song, did three run-throughs, made up my own part, and this was the result of the day!

Thank you Tommy for that referral, because what followed was three more TV Shows with Bryan: Two Rosie O’Donnell shows, and the VH-1 Fashion Awards.

He, his staff, and management, are truly first class people.  They treated me like band-family.

Just to demonstrate how nice Bryan is.  During the first chorus of 18 Till I Die,  he turned around to me and nodded--basically saying, “Sounds good”.  Nice!

What a great hang that was...

But it didn’t end there as I mentioned; I was kindly called back again by Bryan and Co. to perform as percussionist at The VH-1 Fashion Awards in October of  ’96.

It wasn’t for another year that in December of ‘97 I’d get called to do Rosie O’Donnell’s Show  performing:  ‘Back To You’.

This video of ‘Back To You’ may not start or appear immediately (it’s a big file)

just wait a minute and it will......
